Why Can’t We Take Compostables?

Our company DOES NOT take any “compostable products/plastics” (i.e. Hot cups, cartons, take-out boxes, cups, silverware, bags, coffee pods, etc.). Many of these products are advertised as all natural and compostable, but that doesn’t mean that they are BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute) certified or that they don't contain PFAS (also known as "forever chemicals”) or polymers. PFAS and polymers are not approved for compost used on organic farms, as per NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association) and since we work so closely with so many organic farms, we have to say no to all compostable products so that we don't jeopardize our NOFA approvals or the organic quality of our soil products. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this poses for our customers who are trying to do/use the right products.
